Mouton's has a family friendly atmosphere, the staff is on their toes and quick on their feet very sweet friendly and kind, was constantly making sure we have everything we needed, for was served hot and fresh delicious and the music they had playing wasn't real Cajun but it still set the vibe, it's a noticeable change for sure but nothing is perfect at first. I highly recommend this place

I've gone twice on trivia night. Food is great and service is too! Crowd is welcoming on trivia nights!
Hell. Yes. My dad's side of the family is from East Texas and West Louisiana. We had Easter Egg hunts in our yard where eggs would be placed on top of crawfish towers. I grew up on boudin, gumbo, alligator, you name it. I need to get back to Lake Charles sometime. Today I had lunch at Mouton's - and damned if the gumbo wasn't a magic time machine whisking me back to Calcasieu Parish. Now, I got nothin' against creole gumbo - okra is OK with me - but this dark roux chicken and sausage gumbo - NO okra - was what I remember from childhood, and blew away every other gumbo I've had in Central Texas as far back as I can remember. I can't put into words how perfect that first bite was, and how the flavor and texture activated every latent Acadian gene that had resigned itself to what usually passes for gumbo around these parts. And every bite after that was just as good. I gotta go back and try the seafoot version, as I went for the Chicken and Sausage version on a whim. And speaking of bites that tasted great, my lovely and pleasant companion had the jambalaya, and the bites of that I had the pleasure of sampling- Captain Benjamin Sisko himself would have been impressed. Our server, Autumn, was attentive, helpful, and gave us some good information for our return visits. I know I'm going to have to sedate my cardiologist and go back to try the Crawfish Poutine. She told us come back between 2 and 5 on a weekday for Happy Hour, and it's $5 off. Give Mouton's a try. Lunchtime has some great specials if you want to sample a couple of different things, a soup and salad combo for around $13 and a half sandwich and soup or salad for about $15. My bowl of gumbo was $11.99, not too shabby in a world where a Whataburger and fries is over ten bucks. We will definitely be back.
Alysha was so so lovely! We always meet family for dinner, and she kept the kitchen open to make sure we got food. Excellent food, at that! She was so nice and attentive and has an obvious rapport with other guests that’s refreshing to see in such a big city where life tends to go so fast. ❤️
If the music was a little louder or there would have been something going on. I would have gave the atmosphere a 5 star. I gave the service a 4 because it took a long time to get our food. This morning, the food there, by the way, is excellent. They have a very different menu and it tasted fabulous. Once it got to the table, the table. By the way, was sticky and needed to be wiped off and was dirty. But I didn't say anything. I also went to the bathroom closed the door in the bathroom. Doors on the stall were dirty. Probably needs a good wiping down in there. Overall, I would go back because of the menu and the food. The man that walked by that works at the kitchen.Smelled, really good and a woman that brought our food was very bubbly.
Food was great, I've been craving some gator! Knowing it'd be busy midday on a Saturday I ordered to go. Confirmation email said to call when I arrive but the phone number went to some automated carpet cleaning service. So I went in and I'd never been in before, and found it was very busy, very small, and people were all clustered at the door waiting to be seated. Nobody was acknowledged, nobody was working the desk, and it was so busy the waitresses were nearly running and seemed pressed, and I had no idea where to go for a to go order. I had to stop a waitress on her way back to the kitchen to figure it out and was directed to the bar where someone helped me promptly and they found my food sitting on the counter for some time as I had been waiting in the line at the door for a while already by this point. Food was great, online ordering was confusing, parking lot and seating is very cramped (I had to stand over a little boy's shoulder while he was eating with his family because it was so cramped). Would be back for the food but probably only outside of peak busy hours.
