About the role
Job Bulletin - - Williamson County Planner III - Road & Bridge Reporting directly to Division Director or Supervising Planner, responsible for the development and planning of transportation systems and asset management for the Williamson County Department of Infrastructure. Level III of V in Planners. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED - Generates, processes and reviews contracts and technical specification documents related to roadway building plans and projects implemented by the department - Creates, prepares, and reviews various presentations, visual aids and other preparation documents associated with strategic and technical and business development planning - Manages various databases including the upkeep of the Asset GIS database and collaborates with the County Auditor’s Office - Maintains and updates subdivision and development GIS data, GIS systems and software - Prepares bid documents and collaborates with internal and external professional to draft and approve terms and conditions for specific projects - Assists in annual budget process by collaborating with department leadership on Capital Improvement Project costs, and other departmental cost for budget development - Assists in preparation of Commissioner Court agenda items - Organizes and participates in predevelopment meetings and coordinates work program preparations - Coordinates and aids with municipalities and other county agencies on various planning projects and contracts - Performs pavement field evaluations and compiles and reviews pavement evaluation data - Collaborates with engineers and presents technical engineering concepts to at public outreach meetings - Aids in the development and implementation of the Williamson County Long Range Transportation Plan - Develops GIS (Geographic Information Systems) maps and land usage reports - Provides statistical data and project assistant to engineering staff - Analyzes subdivision plats, construction plans, permits and compliance measures for various Land Development and Road & Bridge projects - Aids with the implementation of subdivision amendments regulations - Completes various plans revisions before and during implementation of projects - Assists with coordination of safety projects - Monitors various project budget and conducts project budget audits - Attends all meetings and trainings, as required - Performs special duties as assigned ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS - Reports directly to – Division Director or Supervising Planner - Direct Reports – No PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying - Position involves safely operating a motor vehicle ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS - Indoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weather - Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus, and high noise levels - Regular travel between work sites as required IRREGULAR

What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field AND five (5) years of planning experience including GIS and transportation planning experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of ArcGIS software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Three (3) years of subdivision and land development experience
- Required within thirty (30) days of employment
- Valid Texas driver’s
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Six (6) years of transportation planning experience
- Prior experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- American Concrete Institute Fundamentals of Concrete
- Asphalt Institute Level 1 B Inspector Certification
