After School Counselor
About the role
The YMCA of Central Texas is hiring After School Counselors (18 y/o or older) to support elementary school students in our after-school program across Leander ISD . This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with children, brings strong energy and patience to a group setting, and can create a safe, positive environment where kids can learn, play, and grow. If you are looking for meaningful part-time work and have experience supporting children through school, childcare, caregiving, customer-facing, or team-based environments, we encourage you to apply.
Available shifts
- Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM

What you'll do
- What You’ll Do
- Provide active supervision for groups of children in an after-school setting
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and school representatives
- Help lead daily curriculum, games, and youth activities
- Create a fun, structured, and supportive environment for K-5 students
- Respond calmly and appropriately in urgent or unexpected situations
- Serve as a positive role model for children and families
What you'll bring
- To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- 00 PM to 6:30 PM
- Be able to pass a background check and drug screen
- Be able to actively supervise groups of children in an after-school licensed childcare environment
- Be able to communicate clearly and professionally with children, parents, school staff, and coworkers
- Be dependable, energetic, patient, and comfortable working with children from a variety of backgrounds and abilities
- Be able to stay calm, use good judgment, and maintain a safe environment at all times
