Basic fee for Federal and out of state tax return was $600. Upon review of the completed form, asked three simple questions via email. Also questioned why some of the detail provided did not appear to be properly displayed. Charged an additional $150 to display the detail and $300 to respond to our email. When approached about the email cost, Marcia said she had to help other clients and left the room. The agreement we signed does explain that if we present additional information, that additional fees will apply, which makes sense. If you come in at the last minute with detailed medical expense or charitable contributions, there should be an additional charge. We had provided all of the information at the outset. The grade on this review is secondary to her fees and professional approach. It is not a statement on her technical expertise. Paying $1,050 for our tax returns when we had previously paid no more than $400 was disappointing. Have now seen a posting from Marcia that I was not eligible for hire because of my previous comments. I did not apply to become an employee or a client. So I do not know where this came from. I never challenged your professional expertise in completing returns. I had no evidence to do so. But I did get a new tax preparer in your area. Please do not misinterpret my salute as I drive by.
