Delicious brunch in a very interesting old style cafe
Went for breakfast, had to wait for a table of 3 even though plenty were open. More people came in, was seated and had to wait for our waitress while other tables were sat and their waitress immediately went to them. Ordered Western Omelet it says served with hash browns, grits, toast or biscuit. My fault for assuming it was hash browns and choice of grits, toast or biscuit. Our waitress never clarified either. This was not the first time, but will be the last time we eat here.
Great food!
Food was great and the service was outstanding.
Good food, friendly staff, visit here often
Amazing atmosphere...so cool with tons of 80s decor and music!!! The food was delicious, I do wish my omelet had maybe one more egg; but it was sooooo good!!!! My wife's blueberry pancakes were so delicious I didn't even need to add syrup! If we lived closer id be here at least once a week. Definitely recommend you check it out!!!!
I'll have to see if my servers name is on the receipt later so I can mention him. He was so helpful and kind. The food was really amazing, especially the French toast and chocolate explosion cake. I've never had crepes that are not sweet and desert like before but these crepes are fantastic.. Decor is super cool.
Enjoyed my breakfast with my friend here!
Not gluten free or dairy free options. But they’re up front about that and very understanding. Super friendly. Best food in town, I’m told.
I had a very strange and unprofessional experience at Hippo Café. My partner and I came here because friends and family recommended it, but we ended up leaving before even eating because of the service. After ordering food and drinks, I asked for a straw. The waitress told me they didn’t have any and said plastic cups were only for to-go orders. That in itself isn’t the issue — the problem was the attitude that came with it. It was rude, dismissive, and completely unnecessary. For such a simple request, the response made the whole situation uncomfortable. Because of the way we were treated, we decided to leave. I told the waitress we were leaving due to the attitude and the situation. Instead of addressing the issue, she acted like it didn’t matter and asked about the drinks. I hadn’t even touched mine, so there was no reason I was going to pay for something I didn’t drink. The most concerning part happened after we left. While we were sitting in our car, someone from the restaurant came outside and took a photo of my vehicle. That was extremely weird and honestly inappropriate. I’m not sure why anyone would think that’s okay just because customers decided to leave. Between the rude service and someone photographing my car, the whole experience felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. I definitely won’t be returning.
