What does your business do, the way you would say it to a neighbor?

I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in pelvic health physical therapy. My business is a concierge or in-home physical therapy practice treating women throughout the lifespan. Including female athletes, pregnancy, labor and delivery prep, postpartum recovery, pelvic floor dysfunction throughout the lifespan to get women back to their goals.

What do people come to you for that they cannot get anywhere else nearby?

In-home pelvic health physical therapy with one-on-one individualized care. I treat women to get back to what they love, rebuild confidence, and strength throughout motherhood using the environment and equipment they already have at home.

How did the business start?

I started Althea Movement Co. because I could see quality of care in an in-network outpatient setting reducing. I thought women and moms deserved more and wanted to provide quality care while removing barriers to that care. Once I had my daughter, I was motivated to provide that change. I had a hard time leaving my house postpartum and I don't want other women not to seek the care to improve their health because of the limitations of leaving their baby and house.

What should someone know before they call you?

Pelvic floor PT is about much more than Kegels. I often remind women that leaking, pelvic pressure, pain, or feeling weak after pregnancy isn’t something they simply have to “live with.” I focus on the whole body and help you build the strength, coordination, and capacity to do what you love.

What is the question you get asked most, and how do you answer it?

“Is this normal?”

I get this question all the time, especially from women who are postpartum or returning to exercise. My answer is usually, “It may be common, but that doesn’t mean it's normal.” Leaking, pelvic pressure, pain, or feeling weak or unstable can be common, but they’re also things we can work on. My goal is to help you understand what’s happening and get you back to feeling strong and confident in your body.

What do you love about this place?

I love the sense of community here. People are welcoming, friendly, and you don’t feel like such a stranger. Having grown up around the Philadelphia area, moving here has been such a refreshing change of pace. There’s something about this community that makes my shoulders feel a little lighter, and I’m grateful to call it home.

Which other local businesses do you love?

Fitness Education & Training Center — We're working together for women's health opportunities and she shared this with me! The Living Room Leander — Jules has helped my business as well as many other businesses through this space! Elevate Fitness Leander — Making a positive impact on the community and it's health and wellness

Anything else people should know?

I’m proud to be building a practice that helps women feel strong, capable, and confident in their bodies. Not just “better” from their symptoms. I’m especially excited to continue growing within our local community through workshops, collaborations, and education that make pelvic health more approachable and accessible.
