The Round Rock Fire Department has welcomed a new team member who’s all about tail wags and emotional support. Ivy, a bronze Goldendoodle, is now serving as the department’s therapy dog through a partnership with Hearts4HeroesUSA.
A Calming Presence for Firefighters
Trained and certified in therapy work, Ivy lives and trains with her firefighter handlers, offering a comforting presence after traumatic or high-pressure emergency responses. Her primary role is to help first responders decompress, promoting emotional wellness across the department.
Firefighters often face intense, high-adrenaline situations, and Ivy’s presence provides a much-needed outlet for stress relief. Whether it’s a gentle nuzzle or quiet companionship, she’s already lifting morale across multiple fire stations.
More Than Just a Mascot
Sporting a red vest and a calm demeanor, Ivy has become a visible and welcomed part of the team. Her integration into daily station life underscores a growing recognition of the importance of mental health support in public safety professions.
As Round Rock continues to grow, so does the need to care for those who serve it. Ivy’s arrival represents a meaningful step toward building a more resilient and supported fire department.
