New Milestone Reached for Downtown Development

Georgetown recently achieved a significant construction milestone as workers completed the top floor of the new downtown parking garage at 502 S. Main Street. The four-level structure, designed to address growing parking demands in the historic downtown area, will provide 315 additional parking spaces when fully operational.

"This project represents an important investment in our downtown infrastructure," said a city representative. "As Georgetown continues to grow, we need adequate parking to support our local businesses and visitors to the Square."

Project Timeline and Features

Construction crews continue to make steady progress on the facility, with the entire project scheduled for completion by September 2025. The garage features four levels of parking with easy access to Main Street businesses and the historic Georgetown Square.

The design incorporates elements that complement the surrounding architecture while providing modern amenities like accessible parking spaces, clear directional signage, and efficient traffic flow patterns.

Impact to the Community

Local business owners have expressed optimism about the parking garage's potential impact on downtown commerce.

"Finding parking has been one of the biggest challenges for our customers," noted a merchant from a nearby shop. "Having these additional spaces will make it much easier for people to visit downtown and enjoy everything we have to offer."

The garage addresses a long-standing need identified in the city's downtown development plan, which highlighted parking limitations as a barrier to continued economic growth in the historic district.

Practical Information

The new parking facility is located at 502 S. Main Street, within easy walking distance of restaurants, retail shops, and the Williamson County Courthouse. When completed, the garage will significantly reduce parking congestion during peak shopping hours and special events.

City officials plan to announce details about parking rates and hours of operation as the project nears completion in September.
