Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has launched a new expansion project to improve the passenger experience inside the Barbara Jordan Terminal. Known as the Atrium Infill Project, the 12,000-square-foot addition is designed to relieve congestion at TSA checkpoints and ticket counters, especially during high-traffic travel periods.
Construction Near Baggage Claim, No Flight Delays Expected
The construction is taking place around the baggage claim area but won’t impact flight schedules or access to security lines. Temporary walls will be in place throughout the terminal, and travelers may notice some construction noise as the project progresses.
Despite the changes, airport operations will continue as normal. The Barbara Jordan statue, a centerpiece of the terminal, will be safely protected throughout construction and reintroduced once the project is complete.
Part of Larger Upgrade Plan for AUS Travelers
Funded in part by federal infrastructure dollars, this project is one of several ongoing improvements at Austin-Bergstrom aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and efficiency. The Atrium Infill Project is expected to be completed in 2026.
