Big announcement: Meet the all-new WilCo Guide!

Last week, we mentioned something new we’ve been working on, and now we can finally share it: WilCo Guide is live!

Our goal is to make WilCo Guide the go-to place for finding out what’s happening around Williamson County, discovering local businesses and finding opportunities closer to home. Right now, you’ll find a full local events calendar, a Williamson County job board and thousands of local business pages, with plenty more still to come.

If you own a local business, we really want you to take advantage of everything that’s available. You can create or claim your business profile for free, post jobs for free and add your events to the calendar for free. Anyone hosting a local event can submit it, too.

Because the job board is focused entirely on Williamson County, someone looking for work in Round Rock elsewhere in Williamson County won’t have to dig through pages of Austin jobs first. We’ll also feature select local openings here in Round Rock Scoop, giving businesses that post directly on WilCo Guide another chance to reach local job seekers.

We’re also excited to open WilCo Guide up to more local voices. If you’d like to write about something interesting happening around town, highlight a person or organization doing something good, explore a local issue or share a thoughtful opinion, we want to hear from you. Our goal is to make it easy for people to share positive, helpful local information on a permanent site that others can find, read and share.

🏫 Help name Georgetown ISD's 4th high school

The Gist: Have a good name in mind? Georgetown ISD is asking the community for ideas for its fourth high school, now under construction on the west side of town off D.B. Wood Road. The voter-approved campus is expected to open in fall 2028.
Names can recognize local history, a geographic area, an important event or someone who has made a meaningful contribution. The deadline to submit an idea is Monday, September 21.

Why It Matters: This is your chance to shape a landmark that'll serve our community for generations to come!

🎭 A new stage could be coming to Round Rock

The Gist: Plans are moving forward for a possible black-box theater near Round Rock Christian Academy. City Council approved rezoning the nearly one-acre property on August 13, clearing the way for the project.
A black-box theater is a flexible performance space where the stage and seating can be rearranged for different types of shows. Property owners Scott and Julie Anderson hope to rent the space to private schools and homeschool groups that don’t have their own places to hold plays, showcases and other performances.

Why It Matters: If the project moves forward, it would give more local students and groups a place to perform right here in Round Rock.
