Last week, we mentioned something new we’ve been working on, and now we can finally share it: WilCo Guide is live!
If you own a local business, we really want you to take advantage of everything that’s available. You can create or claim your business profile for free, post jobs for free and add your events to the calendar for free. Anyone hosting a local event can submit it, too. Because the job board is focused entirely on Williamson County, someone looking for work in Leander, Cedar Park, or Liberty Hill won’t have to dig through pages of Austin jobs first. We’ll also feature select local openings here in Leander Scoop, giving businesses that post directly on WilCo Guide another chance to reach local job seekers. We’re also excited to open WilCo Guide up to more local voices. If you’d like to write about something interesting happening around town, highlight a person or organization doing something good, explore a local issue or share a thoughtful opinion, we want to hear from you. Our goal is to make it easy for people to share positive, helpful local information on a permanent site that others can find, read and share. Go take a look at Wilco Guide, browse the events, check out the jobs and, if you own a local business, find or create your page! We’ve worked really hard on this, and we’re so excited to finally share it with y’all!

🍔 Hat Creek Burger Co. is coming to LeanderThe Gist: Austin-born Hat Creek Burger Co. is officially headed to Leander! The family-friendly burger chain plans to open its first Leander location along Crystal Park Trail. Construction is expected to begin in early November 2026 and wrap up around April 2027. Why It Matters: We love the Georgetown location, so we’re super excited to have one even closer to home. With burgers, shakes and an outdoor play area for the kids, it’ll be an easy new option for a casual family meal.
📹 Leander ends use of Flock camerasThe Gist: Leander City Council directed the city to discontinue funding its contract with Flock Safety during its September 3 meeting. As of September 4, Leander Police was no longer using the company’s license plate-reading cameras or data. The city said the decision came in response to community concerns about privacy and how the information collected by the cameras could be accessed and shared. Why It Matters: The decision ends Leander Police’s use of a system that had operated 15 cameras around the city and assisted officers with several investigations.

🌮 Crispy quesabirria with all the good stuff
If you’re craving tacos, Tacos Las Mamis has plenty to choose from. The quesabirria tacos come crispy and cheesy with warm consommé for dipping, while the citrus-marinated chicken is another popular pick. Everything is served on hand-pressed tortillas, and their house-made red salsa adds a nice kick.
