🛹 New upgrades now open at Garey Park

The Gist: Georgetown has opened several new Phase II additions at Garey Park, including a 50,000-square-foot skate park and pump track, expanded Play Ranch playground, new picnic shelters, artificial-turf lawn area, Memorial Pavilion, and improved equestrian facilities. The $20 million project also added restrooms, parking, and accessible paths. Georgetown is hosting a community event at the park on October 4, which would be a fun chance to go check out all the new additions.

Why It Matters: There are now even more reasons for families, skaters, riders, and anyone wanting to spend time outside to head to Garey Park. And there’s more to come soon, including cabins, an amphitheater, disc golf course, and a fishing dock.

🥩 Texas Roadhouse is rolling into town

The Gist: Georgetown’s first Texas Roadhouse is set to open October 19 at 2209 N. I-35. The new spot will bring the hand-cut steaks, ribs, salmon, shrimp, and fresh-baked rolls with honey cinnamon butter that so many people already love. Construction is wrapping up, and they’re hiring for the local team now.
Why It Matters: This one has been on a lot of local wish lists, so the opening will be exciting for Georgetown families and Texas Roadhouse fans who have been making the drive to nearby locations. It’s another fun, easy dinner option right off I-35, with opening day just a few weeks away.

🎒 Boys & Girls Clubs expand across 10 local campuses

The Gist: Round Rock ISD celebrated a new partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area last week, bringing free after-school programs to 10 elementary campuses for the 2026–27 school year. Kids ages 5 and up can stay until 6 p.m. each school day for homework help, tutoring, enrichment activities, and time to play with friends. The program is funded by a five-year, $9 million Texas Education Agency grant.
Why It Matters: This is such a helpful addition for families at these campuses. It gives kids a safe, fun place to go after school while giving parents one less thing to juggle at the end of the day. And having it right on their own school campus makes it even easier.

🔥 Island comfort from a Pflugerville food truck

Kings N Queens Jamaican Cuisine is a food truck regularly parked at Hanover’s Draught Haus in Pflugerville, serving Jamaican comfort food. Look for jerk chicken, oxtail, brown stew chicken, rice and peas, plantains, and beef patties.
The jerk chicken platter is a solid place to start, but don’t sleep on the cabbage and plantains, either. They’re typically open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, but check their page before heading over since hours and specials can change.

Beyond indoor houseplants and colorful pottery, seasonal decor like solar spider stakes and mini light-up houses are filling the shelves. They even help with pest diagnoses and repotting on site.
