01What does your business do, in your own words?
ROAM Roof & Solar is a veteran-owned roofing company serving Central Texas. We help homeowners and businesses with everything from roof repairs and replacements to storm damage, gutters, skylights, ventilation, and attic energy efficiency. At the end of the day, our job is to take something that can feel overwhelming and make it simple: give people honest answers, do quality work, and take care of their home like it's our own.
02How did you get started? Give us the origin story.
ROAM really started with John. After serving in the Army, he got into roofing and saw pretty quickly that there was a better way to do it. We wanted to build a company that felt different, one where homeowners could actually trust the person showing up at their door and know they'd still be there after the job was finished.
What started small has grown into a full team serving families and businesses across Central Texas. We've grown a lot over the years, but the heart of ROAM has stayed the same: take care of people, do great work, and build a company our community can trust.
“We've always believed that if the community supports us, we have a responsibility to pour that support right back into it.”
03What would locals be surprised to learn about you or the business?
Probably how much of what we do has nothing to do with roofing. Being part of this community is a huge part of who we are. We're constantly looking for ways to support local schools, teachers, families, nonprofits, veterans, and other small businesses. We've always believed that if the community supports us, we have a responsibility to pour that support right back into it.
04What's your favorite customer story?
One of my favorite customer stories actually wasn't about replacing a roof. We had a family dealing with excess humidity and moisture buildup in their home, which was especially concerning because they had asthma in the family. They had been trying to figure out the problem and weren't getting answers.
We were able to trace it back to the way their attic was ventilated and help them correct it. I love projects like that because we got to actually problem-solve for them and make their home a healthier, more comfortable place to live. Sometimes the best thing we can do for a customer isn't sell them a new roof, it's figure out what's actually going on.
05What do you wish more people knew about your industry?
I wish more homeowners knew how much who you hire really matters. Two roofing estimates can look almost identical on paper, but the experience and the end result can be completely different. The quality of the installation, how problems are handled, whether someone answers the phone six months later, and whether the company will actually stand behind their work all come down to who you choose. Your roof is a huge investment in your home, so the contractor matters just as much as the materials.

06Why here? What made you choose this area?
Central Texas is home for us. It's where we've raised our family, built our business, and really become part of the community. We love that even with all the growth happening here, there's still a strong sense of people supporting their neighbors and local businesses. We wanted to build something here that would be around for the long haul.
07What's your busiest day of the year like?
Whenever we get one of those insane hailstorms or tornados, life can get pretty crazy. Our first response is to get people's homes dry and secure, and be helpful to the community any way we can.
08What's next for the business this year?
One thing we're really excited about this year is expanding further into energy efficiency. We've been doing a lot with radiant barrier, attic ventilation, and looking at the roof and attic as an entire system rather than just shingles. In Central Texas, our attics take on an incredible amount of heat, so we're focused on solutions that can make homes more comfortable, more efficient, and ultimately help the entire home perform better.
