Senior Day Trip: Llano County Historical Museum and Red Top Jail
Ages 60+
$50 Resident/$63 Nonresident
Visit the Llano County Historical Museum which houses the original marble-top soda fountain and leather stools that welcomed visitors in the early 1900's as well as many other exhibits highlighting the history of Llano County. Enjoy lunch (not included in the trip fee) at Cooper's BBQ before touring the Red Top Jail, an imposing Romanesque Revival structure built in 1895. During the iron ore boom town era of the 1890's, the Red Top with its 4-story gallows tower became a constant reminder to outlaws that they should keep their guns at home.
The bus will depart from the Georgetown Recreation Center (1003 N. Austin Ave.) at 8:30 a.m. with an expected return time of 4:30 p.m.
