 y-focused BioBlitz for all ages will include a scavenger hunt for known pl
 ants and pollinators in the area. Advanced registration is not required. J
 ust show up and participate!\n\nWhat&rsquo\;s a BioBlitz? \n The Parks for
  Pollinators BioBlitz is a family-friendly event where community members w
 ork with park staff to create a snapshot of the pollinators that can be fo
 und in Georgetown. We use a free app called iNaturalist to photograph plan
 ts\, insects and animals to see what pollinators are present in our parks.
  \nThis information helps us understand how we can better protect pollinat
 ors and their habitats\, which are essential to our ecosystem.\n\nEveryone
  can participate in chronicling the pollinators right here in Georgetown!\
 n\nHow do I participate? \n \n Download the iNaturalist (link) app on your
  smartphone. \n Create an account and familiarize yourself with the progra
 m. Practice looking at the Explore\, Activity\, and Observe tabs on the ap
 p. \n While in the app\, navigate to the project page and tap &ldquo\;Join
 .&rdquo\; \n Make observations around Georgetown throughout September. You
  can submit findings in real time using the iNaturalist app on your smartp
 hone or save the photos and upload them later. \n \n Why should I particip
 ate? \n \n Parks are essential to the health of pollinators and help make 
 a difference in saving these critical species. Parks help pollinators in s
 everal ways &ndash\; including documenting the species present within thei
 r boundaries. \n Pollinators are a vital component of our ecosystem\, and 
 an essential link to the world&rsquo\;s food supply. \n The United States 
 has seen a steady decline of pollinators &ndash\; a rate of about a 30% de
 crease annually. These projects help scientist (and citizen scientists\, l
 ike you!) better understand where there is a greater need for preservation
